The Moonshot Program

High-risk high-reward projects based on revolutionary concepts (moonshots) that are not simply the extension of existing technologies. This program brings together researchers from all over the world to target societal issues

RESEARCH FIELD: General theme: “Human Well-being”. Subthemes: society, environment, and economics. Divided into 10 distinct “MS Goals” which are managed by different funding agencies (JST, AMED, NEDO, NARO) and have a 2050 temporal target. Within each MS Goal, funding agencies appoint a Program Director (PD) and multiple Project Managers (PM). Progress is based on stage-gates, encouraging the utilization of R&D results.
