Over the years, Swedish views have shifted on public actors’ trend analysis and strategic relationship building in science. The previous centralisation through the extensive operations of STATT (Sweden’s Technical Attachés), ITPS (the Swedish Institute for Growth Policy Studies) and Tillväxtanalys (the Swedish Institute for Growth Policy Analysis) has developed into the current decentralisation, with actors experiencing a direct need organising their own trend analysis. Discussing this is particularly relevant in the light of a new government research bill: what past strategies have been successful or unsuccessful?
More countries invest in research and higher education and the world grows increasingly complex and polarised. To which countries should Sweden send expert representatives? How can we better cooperate with universities to enhance their strategic efforts? What are other countries doing? These and other questions will be debated by panellists from the Swedish and Swiss systems. The audience will have the opportunity to contribute and ask questions.
